Brownsboro Loop

Ride Description

The Brownsboro Loop is one of the most common club rides and one of the more common places to see riders in the north end of the valley. This loop, which comes in at just under 40 miles with about 1,000' of climbing takes in a mix of urban, residential, industrial and rural roads. There are a few rollers leaving Medford and another near Brownsboro, but this is really one of the easier rides in the valley.

About This Ride

Leaving the traditional start at Hawthorne park, this ride gently climbs to Foothill Rd and makes its way to Hwy 140. It briefly leaves the highway for a more pastoral cutoff road with a short, steep hill before dropping into Brownsboro. From here, the ride is virtually downhill the whole way. You'll ride along Little Butte Creek into Eagle Point, through White City on Agate Road and skirt around Central Point before returning to Medford on the Bear Creek Greenway bike path.

Directions

The traditional start point at Hawthorne park is centrally located in Medford at the intersection of Biddle and Jackson. The loop is short enough to incorporate into rides starting anywhere in the valley.

Traffic

Because of the variety of roads on this ride, traffic is going to vary widely by location, time and day. The route outlined through Medford will be relatively light on traffic but as is the norm for Medford, the bike lanes are sporadic. Foothill Rd will generally have a consistent flow of fast-moving traffic. Hwy 140 has a 10' shoulder. The North end of the ride will have much less traffic but it will be heavier in towns. The pavement is good througout - lots of chipseal, but the roads are safe.
